For the -ER and -IR subjunctive conjugations start with the present yo conjugation and drop the –o ending. And then add the following ending (using comer and vivir as examples): • yo + com- or viv- + -a ending ⇒ coma, viva • tú + com- or viv- + -as ending ⇒ comas, vivas • él, ella, usted + com- or viv- + -a ending ⇒ coma, viva • nosotros + com- or viv- + -amos ending ⇒ comamos, vivamos • vosotros + com- or viv- + -áis ending ⇒ comáis, viváis • ellos, ellas, ustedes + com- or viv- + -an ending ⇒ coman, vivan In the examples for this topic, we use many more common structures that require a subjunctive tense, including es posible que ('it's possible that') and es probable que ('it is probableΔlikely that'). |
