The Imperative - el imperativo - PART III

The imperative conjugations of the irregular verbs are quite irregular.

In this topic we cover the conjuations of a few of the most commonly used irregular verbs.

The format is infinitive ('meaning') : tú, vosotros, usted, ustedes & nosotros

• venir ('to come'): ven, venid, venga, vengan & vengamos

• decir ('to say, to tell'): di, decid, diga, digan & digamos

• hacer ('to do, to make'): haz, haced, haga, hagan & hagamos

• ir ('to go'): ve, id, vaya, vayan & vayamos

• poner ('to put, to place'): pon, poned, ponga, pongan & pongamos

• ser ('to be'): sé, sed, sea, sean & seamos

• tener ('to have'): ten, tened, tenga, tengan & tengamos

Examples:
	Ven aquí ahora mismo. (You, familiar) come here right now. venir ⇒ (tú) ven
	Venid a la fiesta esta noche. (You all, familiar, plural) come to the party tonight. venir ⇒ (vosotros) venid
	Venga a mi oficina, por favor. (You, formal) come to my office, please. venir ⇒ (usted) venga
	Vengan a ver la película. (You all, formal, plural) come to watch the movie. venir ⇒ (ustedes) vengan
	Vengamos juntos a la reunión. Let's come together to the meeting. venir ⇒ (nosotros) vengamos
	Di la verdad a tus padres. (You, familiar) tell the truth to your parents. decir ⇒ (tú) di
	Decid la respuesta ahora. (You all, familiar, plural) say the answer now. decir ⇒ (vosotros) decid
	Diga su nombre, por favor. (You, formal) say your name, please. decir ⇒ (usted) diga
	Digan lo que piensan. (You all, formal, plural) say what you think. decir ⇒ (ustedes) digan pensar means 'to think'
	Digamos la verdad siempre. Let's always tell the truth. decir ⇒ (nosotros) digamos
	Haz tus deberes antes de cenar. (You, familiar) do your homework before dinner. hacer ⇒ (tú) haz
	Haced ejercicio todos los días. (You all, familiar, plural) exercise every day. hacer ⇒ (vosotros) haced
	Haga lo necesario. (You, formal) do what is necessary. hacer ⇒ (usted) haga
	Hagan su mejor esfuerzo. (You all, formal, plural) do your best effort. hacer ⇒ (ustedes) hagan
	Hagamos un plan juntos. Let's make a plan together. hacer ⇒ (nosotros) hagamos plan means 'plan'
	Ve al supermercado y compra pan. (You, familiar) go to the supermarket and buy bread. ir ⇒ (tú) ve
	Id a clase. (You all, familiar, plural) go to class. ir ⇒ (vosotros) id
	Vaya a la oficina ahora. (You, formal) go to the office now. ir ⇒ (usted) vaya
	Vayan a casa temprano. (You all, formal, plural) go home early. ir ⇒ (ustedes) vayan
	Vayamos a la playa este fin de semana. Let's go to the beach this weekend. ir ⇒ (nosotros) vayamos
	Pon los libros en la mesa. (You, familiar) put the books on the table. poner ⇒ (tú) pon poner means 'to put, to place'
	Poned atención. (You all, familiar, plural) pay attention. poner ⇒ (vosotros) poned
	Ponga su firma aquí. (You, formal) put your signature here. poner ⇒ (usted) ponga firma (f) means 'signature'
	Pongan la música más fuerte. (You all, formal, plural) turn up the music. poner ⇒ (ustedes) pongan más fuerte means 'louder'
	Pongamos la mesa para la cena. Let's set the table for dinner. poner ⇒ (nosotros) pongamos
	Sé amable con tus compañeros. (You, familiar) be kind to your classmates. ser ⇒ (tú) sé compañero (m) means 'classmate'
	Sed pacientes. (You all, familiar, plural) be patient. ser ⇒ (vosotros) sed
	Sea honesto con su respuesta. (You, formal) be honest with your answer. ser ⇒ (usted) sea
	Sean puntuales. (You all, formal, plural) be punctual. ser ⇒ (ustedes) sean puntual (adj.) means 'punctual'
	Seamos responsables con nuestras tareas. Let's be responsible with our tasks. ser ⇒ (nosotros) seamos responsable (adj.) means 'responsible'
