Common regular -IR verbs

The examples in this topic use present tense conjugations the following regular -IR verbs:

• vivir - 'to live'

• escribir - 'to write'

• abrir - 'to open'

• recibir - 'to receive'

• decidir - 'to decide'

• subir - 'to go up, to rise'

• permitir - 'to allow'

• asistir - 'to attend'

• cumplir - 'to fulfill, to carry out'

• describir - 'to describe'

Examples:
	Vivo en Madrid, la ciudad que nunca duerme. (I) live in Madrid, the city that never sleeps. vivir ⇒ (yo) vivo
	Él escribe cartas, que son muy largas. He writes letters, that are very long. escribir ⇒ (él) escribe
	Él abre la puerta, la que está pintada de rojo. He opens the door, the one that is painted red. abrir ⇒ (él) abre
	Recibimos un regalo que viene de Francia. (We) receive a gift that comes from France. recibir ⇒ (nosotros) recibimos
	Ellos deciden juntos qué hacer. They decide together what to do. decidir ⇒ (ellos) deciden
	Subimos las escaleras, las que son muy empinadas. (We, feminine) go up the stairs, the ones that are very steep. escalera (f) means 'stair' subir ⇒ (nosotras) subimos
	Permites esto, lo cual es muy amable de tu parte. (You, informal) allow this, which is very kind of you. permitir ⇒ (tú) permites
	Ella asiste a una escuela que está cerca de su casa. She attends a school that is near her house. asistir ⇒ (ella) asiste
	Cumplo mis promesas, que siempre son importantes. (I) fulfill my promises, which are always important. promesa (f) means 'promise' cumplir ⇒ (yo) cumplo
	Él describe la escena hermosa. He describes the beautiful scene. escena (f) means 'scene' describir ⇒ (él) describe
	¿Vives en esta casa que es muy grande? Do (you, informal) live in this house that is very big? vivir ⇒ (tú) vives
	Él escribe un libro que será famoso. He writes a book that will be famous. escribir ⇒ (él) escribe
	Abrimos la ventana, la que da al jardín. (We) open the window, the one that looks out to the garden. in Spanish a window 'gives to the garden' meaning it has a view of the garden abrir ⇒ (nosotros) abrimos
	Decido ir al cine que está en el centro. (I) decide to go to the cinema that is downtown. decidir ⇒ (yo) decido
	Subes la montaña, la que tiene una vista increíble. (You, informal) go up the mountain, the one that has an incredible view. vista (f) means 'view' subir ⇒ (tú) subes
	Permitimos esto, lo que es una buena idea. (We) allow this, which is a good idea. permitir ⇒ (nosotros) permitimos
	Ella asiste a la conferencia que empieza a las diez. She attends the conference that starts at ten. conferencia (f) means 'conference' asistir ⇒ (ella) asiste
