Verb Conjugations: Consonant mutation

The final consonant of a verb stem can change under certain circumstances:

The changes are : д, з, г ⇒ ж : т, ц, к ⇒ ч : с, х ⇒ ш : ст, ск ⇒ щ

• Type I: 'Consonant mutation' occurs when the stem ends in one of the consonants listed above.

-- писать (с ⇒ ш) : я пишу, ты пишешь, он/она пишет, мы пишем, вы пишете, они пишут

• Type II: 'Consonant mutation' happens only for first person singular:

-- ходить (д ⇒ ж ) : я хожу (only for the first person conjugation)

Examples:
	Я ношу пальто. I wear a coat. носить (to wear, to carry) ⇒ (я) ношу Stem ends in с → ш TYPE II so only 1st person singular mutates
	Ты пишешь свое имя на бумаге? Are you (informal) writing your name on the paper? писать (to write) ⇒ (ты) пишешь Stem ends in с → ш TYPE I so all conjugations mutate
	Они ничего не пишут. They are not writing anything. писать (to write) ⇒ (они) пишут Stem ends in с → ш TYPE I so all conjugations mutate
	Я вижу луну. I see the moon. видеть (to see) ⇒ (я) вижу : stem ends in д → ж TYPE II so only 1st person singular mutates
	Почему дети плачут? Why are the children crying? плакать (to cry) ⇒ (они) плачут Stem ends in к → ч TYPE I so all conjugations mutate
	Я плачу, когда смотрю этот фильм. I cry when I watch that movie. плакать (to cry) ⇒ (я) плачу Stem ends in к → ч TYPE I so all conjugations mutate
	Она любит свою собаку. She loves her dog. любить (to love) ⇒ (она) любит Stem ends in б so no mutation
	Я вожу свою новую машину. I am driving my new car. водить (to drive) ⇒ (я) вожу Stem ends in д → ж TYPE II so only 1st person singular mutates
	Это я вожу детей в школу. It's me (who) drives the children to school возить (to transport, to take by transport) ⇒ (я) вожу Stem ends in з → ж TYPE II so only 1st person singular mutates
	Они везде возят кошку. They take the cat everywhere. возить (to transport, to take by transport) ⇒ (они) возят Stem ends in з → ж TYPE II so only 1st person singular mutates
	Они ставят чашки на стол. They put the cups of the table. ставить (to put, to set in place) ⇒ (они) ставят Stem ends in в so no mutation
	Что вы ищете? What are you (formal) searching for? искать (to search) ⇒ (вы) ищете Stem ends in ск → щ TYPE I so all conjugations mutate
	Он все ещё ищет свои ключи? Is he still looking for his keys? искать (to search) ⇒ (он) ищет Stem ends in ск → щ TYPE I so all conjugations mutate
	Я редко вожу машину. I rarely drive a car. водить (to drive) ⇒ (я) вожу Stem ends in д ⇒ ж TYPE II so only 1st person singular mutates Note that 1st person singular for водить is the same as for возить.
