The verb делать (to do) in the Present Tense

Here we introduce our first Russian verb. Verbs are 'doing' or 'action' words like 'to read' and 'to do'

The verb делать is very broad in meaning: 'to perform an action' or 'to make'.

The present tense conjugation of делать is as follows:

• я делаю (I do)

• ты делаешь (You do)

• он/она/оно делает (He/she/it does)

• мы делаем (We do)

• вы делаете (You - plural or formal - do)

• они делают (They do)

делать is the infinitive or dictionary form.

The stem of делать is «дела-» - notice that this remains unchanged in all the conjugations below while the endings change.

Note that the Russian present tense could also be the present continuous - 'I do' as well as 'I am doing', 'you are doing' etc.

Examples:
	Я делаю это каждый день. I do it every day. делать ⇒ делаю каждый день means 'every day'
	Ты делаешь это обычно. You (informal) do it usually. делать ⇒ делаешь обычно means 'usually'
	Вы делаете это часто. You (formal) do it often. делать ⇒ делаете часто means 'often'
	Он делает это редко. He does it rarely. делать ⇒ делает редко means 'rarely', 'not often'
	Она делает это иногда. She does it sometimes. делать ⇒ делает иногда means 'sometimes', 'occasionally'
	Они делают это ежедневно. They do it every day. делать ⇒ делают ежедневно means 'everyday', 'daily'
	Мы делаем это вместе. We do it together. делать ⇒ делаем вместе means 'together'
	учитель делает это один. The teacher does it alone. делать ⇒ делает один means 'alone'. It also means 'one'
	Официантка делает это быстро. The waitress does it quickly. делать ⇒ делает быстро means 'quickly', 'fast'
	Врач делает это медленно. The doctor does it slowly. делать ⇒ делает медленно means 'slowly'
	Что ты делаешь? What are you (informal) doing? делать ⇒ делаешь что means 'what (thing)'
	Зачем ты это делаешь? Why are you (informal) doing that? делать ⇒ делаешь зачем means 'for what reason' or 'why'
	Он делает сад больше. He is making the garden bigger. делать ⇒ делает сад means 'garden'
	Я делаю это сейчас. I am doing it now. делать ⇒ делаю сейчас means 'now'
	Что делает ваш сын? What does your (formal) son do? делать ⇒ делает This could mean 'what is he doing now?' or 'what does he do as a job?'
