Prepositions of movement - в and из

Two of the most useful propositions that denote movement are в and из.

• в means 'to' and takes the accusative. Recall that when it takes the prepositional it means 'in' or 'at' (stationary).

• из means 'from' and takes the genitive.

There are some nouns that take на rather than в and с rather than из. These include рынок, площадь, встреча, улица, вокзал, остановка and работа.

Note that дом has a special accusative form домой which means 'to home'. It does not need a preposition.

Examples:
	Мы идём в театр. We are going to the theatre. театр (inanimate masc.) ⇒ (в) театр (в for movement takes the accusative)
	Я иду в школу. I'm going to school. школа (fem.) ⇒ (в) школу (в for movement takes the accusative)
	Я иду из школы. I'm coming from school. школа (fem.) ⇒ (из) школы (из for movement takes the genitive)
	Ты идёшь в отель. You (informal) are going to the hotel. отель (inanimate masc.) ⇒ (в) отель (в for movement takes the accusative)
	Ты идёшь из отеля. You (informal) are coming from the hotel. отель (inanimate masc.) ⇒ (из) отеля (из for movement takes the genitive)
	Он идёт в ресторан. He goes to the restaurant. ресторан (inanimate masc.) ⇒ (в) ресторан (в for movement takes the accusative)
	Он идёт из ресторана. He comes from the restaurant. ресторан (inanimate masc.) ⇒ (из) ресторана (из for movement takes the genitive)
	Она идёт домой. She goes home. дом (inanimate masc.) ⇒ домой (домой is a special accusative form of дом which means 'to home'. It does not need a preposition.)
	Она идёт из дома. She comes from home. домой (inanimate masc.) ⇒ (из) дома (из for movement takes the genitive)
	Мы идём в библиотеку. We are going to the library. библиотека (fem.) ⇒ (в) библиотеку (в for movement takes the accusative)
	Мы идём из библиотеки. We are coming from the library. библиотека (fem.) ⇒ (из) библиотеки (из for movement takes the genitive)
	Вы идёте в университет You (formal) are going to university университет (inanimate masc.) ⇒ (в) университет (в for movement takes the accusative)
	Вы идёте из университета. You (formal) are coming from the university. университет (inanimate masc.) ⇒ (из) университета (из for movement takes the genitive)
	Я иду во двор. I am going (out) to the yard. двор (inanimate masc.) ⇒ (во) двор (в for movement takes the accusative) в becomes во to make pronunciation easier.
	Они идут на работу. They go to work. работа (fem.) ⇒ (на) работу (на for movement takes the accusative) работа takes the movement prepositions на and с
	Они идут с работы. They are coming from work. работа (fem.) ⇒ (с) работы (с for movement takes the genitive) работа takes the movement prepositions на and с
