Plurals - exceptions and irregulars

• Exceptions: There is one major exception to the rules for forming plurals from the previous topic. For nouns that would normally take an «-ы» to form the plural, after г, к, х, ж, ч, ш, and щ we need use «-и» instead. This makes pronunciation easier.

• There are many irregular plurals - indeed many common Russian nouns have irregular plural forms.

- There are many masculine words that form the plural with an «-а» ending.

- And some words have completely different words for the plural.

• Loan words: many foreign loan words have no plural form.

These are all such common words that it is well worth memorising their plural forms.

Examples:
	книга - книги book - books книга (fem.) ⇒ книги «-а» ending but preceded with «г» so ⇒ «-и»
	мальчик - мальчики boy - boys мальчик (masc.) ⇒ мальчики final consonant is «к» so ⇒ add «-и»
	карандаш - карандаши pen - pens карандаш (masc.) ⇒ карандаши final consonant is «ш» ⇒ add «-и»
	мяч - мячи ball - balls мяч (masc.) ⇒ мячи final consonant is «ч» ⇒ add «-и»
	ученик - ученики pupil - pupils ученик (masc.) ⇒ ученики final consonant is «к» ⇒ add «-и»
	адрес - адреса address - addresses адрес (masc.) ⇒ адреса Note the stress moves to the final а.
	вечер - вечера evening - evenings вечер (masc.) ⇒ вечера Note the stress moves to the final а.
	глаз - глаза eye - eyes глаз (masc.) ⇒ глаза Note the stress moves to the final а.
