Russian grammar - Instrumental case with быть and стать |
The verbs быть and стать are used to describe a state or a change of state. When the state is transitory the instrumental adjective is used. And if the state is permanent then the nominative case is used. This applies both with nouns (X becomes a cat) and adjectives (X becomes furry). |
