In Russian when asking about color, size, length etc., we use a construction like 'Of what color is it?' This entails the use of the genitive case. • In this case the word какой (what kind) would be in the genitive. • And the word цвет (color) would be in the genitive. The result is the question: какого цвета...? (Of what color is…?) The answer therefore takes this form: 'It is of a red color'. |
