|||
An indeterminate object (thing) can be referred to using the word 것. The definite articles 이, 그, and 저 (this, that) are frequently combined with 것 to mean 'this thing' or 'that thing'. • 이것 is this thing near the speaker. • 그것 is that thing closer to the listener . • 저것 is that distant thing. In colloquial Korean 것 is often abbreviated to 거 giving 이거, 그거 and 저거 • when 거 is used with the topic marker 는 it can be further abbreviated as 건. • when 거 is used with the object marker 를 it can be abbreviated as 걸. • when 거 is used with the object marker 이 (because it is actually 것이) it can be abbreviated as 게. |
