The contrastive function of the Topic marker 은/는 can be incorporated into 지 않다 verb negation. • Adding 는 after the 지 ⇒ 지는 않다 gives the sense of the negation being contrary to expectations. It is common to contract 지는 ⇒ 진 |

It won’t take a long time (contrary to expectations). |

(Despite what you expect) I am not good at cooking. |

It's pretty late, but there aren't many people yet. |
