Present participles as adjectives - modifying a noun

In addition to present participles modifying verbs like adverbs, present participles in French can also modify nouns, like adjectives.

In this mode the present participle effectively replaces the relative clause that begins with que ('that') or qui ('who').

Examples:
Je vois des gens portant des sacs.
I see people carrying bags.
Les chiens aboyant doivent rester dehors.
Barking dogs should stay outside.
Les étudiants venant de l'Afrique peuvent s'inscrire ici.
Students from Africa can register here.
Il y a une pénurie de médecins parlant français.
There is a shortage of French-speaking doctors.
Les membres voulant partir peuvent sortir par la porte arrière.
Members wishing to leave may exit through the back door.
Les voyageurs venant de l'Europe n'ont pas besoin de visa.
Travelers from Europe do not need a visa.
Dans les jours suivants, ils ont réussi à méditer tous les jours.
In the following days, they managed to meditate every day.
Une étudiante portant un chemisier jaune cherche le professeur.
A female student wearing a yellow blouse is searching for the professor.
