Using 到 (dào) to indicate completion

The verb (dào) alone means 'to arrive'.

However, when it is attached to a verb, it emphasizes the completion of the action.

Examples:
她找到了工作。
tā zhǎo dào le gōngzuò.
She found (successfully) a job.

From (zhǎo) meaning 'to look for' or 'to search'

他写到了第十页。
tā xiě dào le dì shí yè.
He wrote up to page ten.
我听到了一个好消息。
wǒ tīng dào le yí gè hǎo xiāoxī.
I heard some good news.
她买到了票。
tā mǎi dào le piào.
She bought the tickets.
他学到了很多知识。
tā xué dào le hěnduō zhīshi.
He learned (completely) a lot of knowledge.

知识 (zhīshì) means 'knowledge'

我们走到了山顶。
wǒmen zǒu dào le shāndǐng.
We walked (all the way) to the top of the mountain.

山顶 (shāndǐng) means 'mountain top'

他收到了信。
tā shōu dào le xìn.
He received the letter.

收到 (shōudào) means 'to receive'

他们达到了目标。
tāmen dá dào le mùbiāo.
They reached their goal.

达到 (dádào) means 'to completely reach' or 'to achieve' or 'to attain'

目标 (mùbiāo) means 'goal'

我看到了星星。
wǒ kàn dào le xīngxing.
I saw the stars.
我看到了他。
wǒ kàn dào le tā.
I saw him.

From the verb (kàn) meaning 'to watch'

她找到了钥匙。
tā zhǎo dào le yàoshi.
She found the keys.

找到 (zhǎodào) means 'to (successfully) find'

他收到了礼物。
tā shōu dào le lǐwù.
He received the gift.
我们买到了喜欢的衣服。
wǒmen mǎi dào le xǐhuān de yīfu.
We bought the clothes we liked.
他想到了一个好办法。
tā xiǎng dào le yí gè hǎo bànfǎ.
He came up with a good solution.

办法 (bànfǎ) means 'way' or 'method'

他到了家。
tā dào le jiā.
He arrived home.
谁刚刚到了?
shéi gānggāng dào le
Who arrived just now?
我们到了学校。
wǒmen dào le xuéxiào.
We arrived at school.
