Interrogative pronoun какой - which, what kind of

We have seen that что means 'what' but if it is followed by a noun we need to use какой and the meaning is closer to 'which' or 'what kind of'.

The form of какой depends on gender, number and case.

• Nominative: какой (masc. singular), какая (fem. singular), какое (neu. singular), какие (plural for all the genders).

• Prepositional: каком (masc. singular), какой (fem. singular), каком (neu. singular), каких (plural for all the genders).

• Accusative: какой (inaninate) or какого (aninate) (masc. singular), какую (fem. singular), какое (neu. singular), какие (inanimate) or каких (animate) (plural for all the genders).
