To wish or hope - 면 좋겠다

Pattern: Verb stem + /었으면 좋겠다

This Verb ending 좋겠다 expresses hope or a wish.

Broken down the means 'if', the means 'good' and the marks the future. So taken together the pattern literally means 'will/would be good if'.

Note also that while the first clause can be in either the past or present tense it is most common to see it in the past tense. The difference in meaning is ambiguous.

Examples:
집에 빨리 갔으면 좋겠어요.
(I) hope (we) get home quickly.
강아지를 키웠으면 좋겠어요.
(I) wish (I) had a puppy.

키우다 means 'to raise (a pet or a child)'

키우다 is better than 있다 when referring to pets and children.

주말에 비가 안 오면 좋겠어요.
(I) hope it doesn't rain in the weekend.
오늘 날씨가 더웠어서 비가 왔으면 좋겠어요.
The weather was hot today, so (I) hope it rains
빨리 일요일이 왔으면 좋겠어요.
(I) wish Sunday would come soon.
빨리 여행 갔으면 좋겠어요.
(I) wish (I) could travel soon.
내일 눈이 더 많이 왔으면 좋겠어요.
(I) hope it snows even more tomorrow.
양이 많았으면 좋겠어요.
(I) hope there is a lot. / (I) hope the amount is a lot.

means 'quantity' or 'amount'

집에 가면 집이 청결했으면 좋겠어요.
(I) hope the house will be clean when (I) go home.
엄마가 저를 데리러 왔으면 좋겠어요.
(I) wish mother would come to pick me up.
그것 때문에 저를 해고하지 않았으면 좋겠어요.
(I) hope you don’t fire me because of that.

해고하다 means 'to fire' or 'to sack'

저를 의도적으로 피하려고 안 했으면 좋겠어요.
(I) wish you didn’t deliberately try to avoid me.

피하다 means 'to avoid'

의도적으로 means 'on purpose' or 'intentionally'

차가 있었으면 좋겠어요.
(I) wish (I) had a car.
돈이 많았으면 좋겠어요.
(I) wish (I) had a lot of money.
삼십살 전에 결혼했으면 좋겠어요.
(I) would like to get married before (I) am thirty years old.
방학이 빨리 왔으면 좋겠어요.
(I) wish vacation could come sooner.
내년에 졸업하면 좋겠어요.
(I) hope to graduate in the next year.
노래를 못해요. 노래를 잘했으면 좋겠어요.

자세히 (adverb) means 'in detail'

좋겠다.
(I) envy you. / Good for you.
