Pattern: Verb stem + ㄴ/은/는 것 같다 We can use the pattern Verb stem + ㄴ/은/는 것 같다 to say 'I think that' We previously saw this pattern meaning 'it is like' or 'it appears that'. It can be used in the past, present and future tenses by modifying the verb in the regular ways. So this is an oblique or indirect way to express one's thoughts. In English this might be 'it seems to me that''. This pattern is only used in the first person - it can't be used to say 'he thinks that'. -- And as such the subject pronoun (I) is almost always omitted. |
