French grammar - Plural Personal Pronouns - nous, vous, ils and elles |
The plural pronouns ('we', 'you' and 'they') and their être conjugations are as follows: • nous sommes - 'we are' • vous êtes - 'you (plural) are' • ils sont - 'they are' • elles sont - 'they (females) are' Note that French has a special plural 'you' form - vous - as in 'y'all', 'you guys'. And French has both male and female forms of 'they' - ils & elles. -- When there is a mix of males and females in a group, they are referred to using the male pronoun ils. The examples below illustrate uses of these ponouns and conjugations and introduce new vocabulary. |
