Using 在...之间 (zài...zhījiān) for 'between'

The phrase ...之间 (zài...zhījiān) is used to express the idea of something being "between" or "among" two or more entities.

The pattern is: [subject] + + [entity 1] + + [entity 2] + 之间.

Note that the two entities are separated by (hé) which means 'and'.

Examples:
他在我和你之间。
tā zài wǒ hé nǐ zhījiān.
He is between me and you.

() means 'and'

之间 (zhījiān) means 'between'

书在桌子和椅子之间。
shū zài zhuōzi hé yǐzi zhījiān.
The book is between the table and the chair.
这支笔在书和纸之间。
zhè zhī bǐ zài shū hé zhǐ zhījiān.
This pen is between the book and the paper.

(zhī) is the measure word for long, thin objects

他在老师和学生之间。
tā zài lǎoshī hé xuéshēng zhījiān.
He is between the teacher and the student.
她在办公室和会议室之间。
tā zài bàngōngshì hé huìyìshì zhījiān.
She is between the office and the meeting room.

会议室 (huìyìshì) means 'meeting room'

这个书店在学校和图书馆之间。
zhège shūdiàn zài xuéxiào hé túshūguǎn zhījiān.
This bookstore is between the school and the library.

这个 (zhège) means 'this'

书店 (shūdiàn) means 'bookstore'

图书馆 (túshūguǎn) means 'library'

这些东西在家和办公室之间。
zhèxiē dōngxi zài jiā hé bàngōngshì zhījiān.
These things are between home and the office.

东西 (dōngxi) means 'things'

那本书在书架和桌子之间。
nà běn shū zài shūjià hé zhuōzi zhījiān.
That book is between the bookshelf and the table.

(běn) is the measure word for books

手机在床和桌子之间。
shǒujī zài chuáng hé zhuōzi zhījiān.
The phone is between the bed and the table.

手机 (shǒujī) means 'phone'

这个公园在两个城市之间。
zhège gōngyuán zài liǎng gè chéngshì zhījiān.
This park is between the two cities.
