Chinese grammar - Saying 'never' with 从不 (cóng bù) and 从来不 (cónglái bù)

Saying 'never' with 从不 (cóng bù) and 从来不 (cónglái bù)

In Chinese, saying that something never happens or a state never existed has some nuance.

从不 (cóng bù) is used to describe a habitual action or behavior that someone never does or has never done up until the present moment. However, it doesnt imply anything about the future.

从来不 (cónglái bù) is used to strongly emphasize that someone has never done something in the past and continues not to do it. It often expresses permanent refusal.
