Chinese grammar - People plurals with 们 |
Besides 们 being used to form plural person pronouns, it can also be used to pluralize certain nouns, especially those referring to people, to indicate a group. For example: • 孩子 (háizi) ⇒ 孩子们 (háizimen) - children • 朋友 (péngyou) ⇒ 朋友们 (péngyoumen) - friends • 老师 (lǎoshī) ⇒ 老师们 (lǎoshīmen) - teachers • 学生(xuéshēng) ⇒ 学生们 (xuéshēngmen) - students However, in general, it is more natural and concise to use nouns that represent people without adding 们 to imply plurality. |
