In Chinese, we can express parts of the day using the following words: • 上午 (shàngwǔ) - morning • 下午 (xiàwǔ) - afternoon • 晚上 (wǎnshàng) - evening • 中午 ( zhōngwǔ) - noon • 午夜 (wǔyè) - midnight When used with a time, these words are placed before the time. |

我们中午吃午饭。
wǒmen zhōngwǔ chī wǔfàn. We have lunch at noon. |
|
|
我午夜睡觉。
wǒ wǔyè shuìjiào. I went to sleep at midnight.
|
|
|
早上九点我在工作。
zǎoshang jiǔ diǎn wǒ zài gōngzuò. I am working at 9:00 in the morning. |
|
|
上午十点他在开会。
shàngwǔ shí diǎn tā zài kāihuì. He is in a meeting at 10:00 in the morning. |
|
|
下午三点我们去喝茶。
xiàwǔ sān diǎn wǒmen qù hē chá. We go for tea at 3:00 in the afternoon. |
|
|
下午五点她回家。
xiàwǔ wǔ diǎn tā huíjiā. She goes home at 5:00 in the afternoon. |

|
晚上七点我们吃晚饭。
wǎnshàng qī diǎn wǒmen chī wǎnfàn. We have dinner at 7:00 in the evening. |
|
|
晚上九点他看电视。
wǎnshàng jiǔ diǎn tā kàn diànshì. He watches TV at 9:00 in the evening. |

|
中午十二点我们吃饭。
zhōngwǔ shí'èr diǎn wǒmen chīfàn. We have lunch at 12:00 noon. |
|
|
午夜十二点他睡觉。
wǔyè shí'èr diǎn tā shuìjiào. He goes to bed at 12:00 midnight. |
|
|
他早上六点半起床。
tā zǎoshang liù diǎn bàn qǐchuáng. He gets up at 6:30 in the morning. |
|
|
我们晚上差一刻八点一起吃晚饭。
wǒmen wǎnshàng chàyíkè bā diǎn yìqǐ chī wǎnfàn. We have dinner together at a quarter to eight (7:45) in the evening. |
|
|
你们下午两点一刻开会。
nǐmen xiàwǔ liǎng diǎn yíkè kāihuì. You have a meeting at a quarter past two (2:15) in the afternoon. |
|
|
她晚上七点半到家。
tā wǎnshàng qī diǎn bàn dàojiā. She gets home at 7:30 in the evening.

zhōngwǔ shí'èr diǎn yíkè chīfàn ma? Do you have lunch at 12:15 noon? |

他每天早上六点十五分跑步。
