Numbers in Chinese

Chinese numbers are generally straightforward:

Chinese has unique characters for the numbers 1 through 10.

After 10, numbers are formed by combining the word for ten (shí) with another digit.

Larger numbers in Chinese follow a similar pattern:

The word (líng) is used for the number zero.
