Chinese grammar - 'It' - the pronoun 它 (tā)

'It' - the pronoun 它 (tā)

The Chinese pronoun (tā) means 'it.'

It can be used to refer to animals, objects, or abstract concepts.

It can be both the subject and the object of a sentence.

Examples:
这是我的猫,它叫咪咪。
zhè shì wǒ de māo,#tā jiào mīmī.
This is my cat. It is called Mimi.

咪咪 (mīmī) means 'meow' - a common name for a pet cat

这是一本书,它很有趣。
zhè shì yì běn shū,#tā hěn yǒuqù.
This is a book. It is very interesting.
那个问题很难,我不知道怎么解决它。
nà ge wèntí hěn nán,#wǒ bù zhīdào zěnme jiějué tā.
That problem is difficult. I don't know how to solve it.
这是一个好主意,我喜欢它。
zhè shì yí gè hǎo zhǔyì,#wǒ xǐhuān tā.
This is a good idea. I like it.

主意 (zhǔyì) means 'idea'

这个地方很漂亮,我想再来看它。
zhè gè dìfāng hěn piàoliang,#wǒ xiǎng zài lái kàn tā.
This place is beautiful. I want to come again to see it.
这辆车很旧,但它还能开。
zhè liàng chē hěn jiù,#dàn tā hái néng kāi.
This car is old, but it still runs.

(dàn) means 'but'

这个答案是对的,请记住它。
zhè gè dá'àn shì duì de,#qǐng jìzhù tā.
This answer is correct. Please remember it.

rúguǒ shì zuì piányí de jiù mǎi tā.
If it is the cheapest (one), then buy it.
